Privacy Policy
This policy explains what Briefle (https://briefle.org) collects, why, and your choices. The data controller is Zekeriya Çavdar, Türkiye ([email protected]).
What we collect
- Your progress. Your lesson progress, XP, streak, daily goal and glossary are stored in your browser. If you sign in, we also keep a copy on our servers so it follows you to your other devices; deleting your account (from your profile) removes that copy. Without an account, it stays only in your browser and clearing your browser data removes it.
- Learning activity. When you play, we store a random session ID with your answers (which version you picked), and the text of briefs and reasons you choose to type. We use this to measure which lessons work and to improve them. It is not linked to your name.
- Account details. If you create an account: your name, and optionally which courses you care about and whether you want news about new courses. You can change these on your profile.
- Email address. Only if you give it to us: to sign in, to buy Premium, or to join a waitlist. We use it to send sign-in links and messages about your account and, if you joined a waitlist, news about that. We don't send marketing email without your consent, and you can ask us to delete it anytime.
- Sign-in. You can sign in with Google, in which case Google tells us your name and verified email address (nothing else), or with one-time links sent by email; we store only a hashed form of each link, and it expires after use. Once signed in, your browser keeps one essential cookie that proves it's you. It is not used for tracking.
- Payments. Purchases are handled by Paddle.com, our Merchant of Record. Paddle collects your payment and billing details under its own privacy policy; we receive your email, country and subscription status, never your full card number.
- Technical data. Our hosting and network providers process IP addresses and request logs to deliver and protect the site.
What we don't do
- We don't sell your data or use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- We don't use the briefs you write to identify you.
Service providers
- Hetzner Online (servers, Germany)
- Cloudflare (network, security and DNS)
- Paddle.com (payments, tax and invoicing)
- Resend (sending sign-in emails)
- Google (if you choose to sign in with Google)
How long we keep data
Learning activity is kept while it is useful for improving lessons, and at most 3 years. Email addresses are kept until you ask us to remove them or unsubscribe. Billing records are kept as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or Türkiye's KVKK), you can ask to access, correct, delete or export your data, or object to how we use it. Email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
