Axis title
Also called axis label
The short text along an axis that names what the axis measures, as opposed to the tick labels that give the values.
Say it to an AI
Bar chart of monthly revenue, April to September 2026, for a report figure. Give the y-axis an axis title that includes the units, 'Revenue, $k per month', with plain tick labels 0, 100 and 200; the month names go on the x-axis. Zero baseline, three light gridlines, one color.
