Neutral palette

Also called grayscale

The set of greys used for text, borders, backgrounds and surfaces, which should make up most of an interface.

Say it to an AI

Invoices card with a mostly neutral palette and a single accent color reserved for the "New invoice" button. Use semantic color on the status badges only: green for Paid, red for Overdue, amber for Pending. No decorative color on avatars, amounts or titles.

How an expert would brief the stronger version of “Invoice list”.

Study A · the stronger one
Study B · the weaker one

Why: Both keep avatars, amounts and titles in grey and near-black, so the only color left to read is in the pills.
