Type scale
A small, fixed set of font sizes, each with a clear role, that every piece of text in a product picks from.
Say it to an AI
Scheduling-app hero. Use a tight type scale, three sizes max: a heavy headline about twice the body size with slightly negative tracking, one regular-weight subtitle, and small meta text. Only the headline and the CTA get bold.
How an expert would brief the stronger version of “Landing page hero”.
See it
Try it as a puzzle →Hero section at the top of the homepage for a scheduling app.
Why: B uses 13 / 16 / 32px (a 2× jump to the headline); A uses 11, 12.5, 13.5, 15, 17 and 25px with no pattern.
More ways experts use it
Telehealth appointment card: doctor avatar, name and specialty, then date and duration rows, then Join and Reschedule buttons. Keep a tight type scale of three sizes and just two font weights (regular and semibold); build the visual hierarchy with color, not more weights. No italics.
