Line height

Also called leading

The vertical distance from one line of text to the next, usually written as a multiple of the font size.

Say it to an AI

Cooking-blog article page. Put the body in a centered reading column that keeps the measure around 50–60 characters per line, with 15px text and a generous line height of about 1.65. Headings can be tighter, but body text never spans the full width.

Study A · the stronger one
Study B · the weaker one

Why: A uses 1.65 for its paragraphs; B uses 1.3, which is fine for headings but cramped for body copy.

  • Course card with a large bold title that wraps to two or three lines. Give the heading tight leading, around 1.15, and keep the 1.5-1.6 line height for the description only. The multi-line title should read as one block, with more space below it than between its lines.
