Slope
Also called rate of change
How steeply a line rises or falls, which readers take as how fast the value changed per unit of time.
Say it to an AI
Board slide with a line chart of monthly churn, April to September, on a 2.4% to 3.2% axis. Keep a wide aspect ratio (banking), roughly 2.3:1, so the slope (rate of change) is not exaggerated; dots on each month, five tick labels, a one-line metric definition in the footer.
How an expert would brief the stronger version of “Churn slide chart”.
See it
Try it as a puzzle →A churn trend slide in a SaaS company's board deck, exported from the analytics tool.
Why: The August to September step is 0.1 points in both charts, a shallow nudge in A and a sharp drop in B.
